•
Add 3" to each of two sides to determine space required; multiply length
by width to determine square inches; divide by 144” to determine square feet.
•
Add up total square feet for all pieces
*
Multiply total square feet by hanging rate
Example for 2 pieces of work:
Piece # 1 at 10” x 12” + 3” on two sides = 13” x 15” = 195 sq. in. /144” = 1.35
sq ft
Piece # 2
at 11” x 14” + 3” on two sides = 14” x 17” = 238 sq. in. /144” = 1.65 sq ft
Total space required: 1.35 sq ft + 1.65 sq ft = 3.00 sq ft
Cost for
active member = $9.00 [3 sq ft x $3]
Apply minimum hanging fee: $25.00
Example for 4
pieces of work:
Piece #1 at
9" x 12" + 3" on two sides = 12" x 15" = 180 sq. in.
= 1.25 sq ft
Piece #2 at
18" x 24" + 3" each = 21" x 27" = 567 sq. in. /144
= 3.94 sq ft
Piece #3 at 12" x 18" + 3" each = 15" x 21" = 315 sq. in. /144
= 2.19 sq ft
Piece #4 at
18" x 30" + 3" each = 21" x 33" = 693 sq. in. /144
= 4.81 sq ft
Total space required
= 12.19 sq ft
Cost for member at large = $60.95
[12.19 sq. ft x $5]
Hanging fees for three-dimensional work
are $8 per square foot per
show. Jewellery will be assessed at time of presentation, and may be dependent
on the unit used for display.
Presentation Guidelines
The
following applies to all Zephyr exhibitions:
Two dimensional work:
•
Works MUST be wired and ready to hang. The hanging committee reserves the
right not to hang work which is not properly wired. DO NOT use metal tooth
strips or metal side strips. Place your wire approximately 1/4 to 1/3 from
the top of the frame. Stretch wire straight across when you fasten it, as
it will stretch again with the weight of your pieces.
•
Matting must be acid free, properly cut and clean.
•
Glass must be clean.
•
Frames must be clean and unmarred; corners should be tight with no splits
or separations
•
Hand-made frames should have mitred corners and any screws or nails must
be set in, filled and painted or stained.
•
Watercolour paintings and photographs must have a paper dust cover on the
back.
•
Work should be signed.
•
Unframed canvasses should be of better quality with canvas stapled at
back; or gallery style canvasses (deeper frame)
•
Sides must be finished – either solid colour or extension of the painting
•
Label the back of the work with artist name, title of work and the
medium.
Three dimensional work:
•
Must be signed and properly labelled with name of artist, title and
medium.
•
Zephyr Gallery has a limited number of bases to display three dimensional
work – please advise if you will be supplying your own or if your work requires
a specific size.

presentation and suitability to theme (2D works only). If the work does
not adhere to the above, the work may not be hung.
